Faulty OS&Y Gate Valve Replaced on Manhattan Sprinkler Control Line

A faulty OS&Y gate valve on a sprinkler control line is not something you can sit on. When that valve fails, the entire fire suppression system for that zone is compromised. Buildings in Manhattan don't get to roll the dice on that - it's a life safety issue, plain and simple.

Here's what we were working with: a flanged OS&Y (outside stem and yoke) gate valve that had failed and needed to come out completely. That style of valve is common in commercial fire sprinkler systems because the stem position tells you at a glance whether the valve is open or closed. When it stops functioning correctly, you lose that reliability - and that's a problem during an emergency.

We removed the old valve, brought in the correct flanged replacement, and got everything bolted back into the line properly. The sprinkler control valve label is back in place, the system is tagged and locked open per code, and the line is fully restored. Clean work, nothing left to chance.
